Climbing in Sardinia
This option is designed for self-sufficient climbers who want a holiday with everything taken care of by local professionals. During the holiday we will be your hosts, taking you to all the best climbing areas and preparing hearty Italian meals.
These trips are ideal for either existing groups or for individuals. If you’re on your own register your interest and we’ll form a group…or use the message board to look for partners. In terms of grade there is something for everyone.
We offer two trips, both with pick-up from Olbia.
By land
In amongst undisturbed valleys or suspended above turquoise sea water and white sandy coves, everywhere you look on this island there’s a limestone cliff waiting to be climbed. It’s wild in every sense - this has to be every climber’s paradise. Still very much under-development by the local climbers, this place has a kind of ‘Terra Incognita’ feel to it, with rock so sharp in many places that you’d think you were the first to touch it. There is everything from crags to thirteen pitch routes, all bolted.
We base ourselves in Cala Gonone; a small village on the eastern coast near some of the island’s most beautiful and remote climbing. There are a huge variety of areas to explore and during our two week stay we will visit some of the best of these. If you only have a week to spare, it is possible to join us for just the first or second week. Maximum group size is 8 people.
By sea
Sardinia is rich in wild and spectacular coastal climbing areas, some of which can only be accessed by sea. With a sailboat as our base we make a two week journey from Olbia to Alghero around the south of the island. Through clear blue waters along this rugged coastline, with its small sandy bays, there seems no better way to explore than by boat. If you only have a week to spare, it is possible to join us for just the first or second week. Maximum group size is 8 people.
When
The best times of year to climb in Sardinia are spring and autumn, this way you also have the whole island to yourself, since the main tourist season is during the summer. Spring is a very beautiful time for those who appreciate a green landscape covered in wildflowers as far as you can see, whereas Autumn is best if you like the idea of a swim after the days climbing, since this is when the sea is at its best.
Food
As well as being passionate climbers we are also keen chefs. All meals are prepared by us in Mediterranean style with healthy local ingredients. If you have any dietary requirements please let us know.
