Rock Climbing in Finale Ligure
5 days
Finale is where we go from late Autumn through to early Spring to climb in the sunshine on the Italian coast, while only a few hours drive away the alps are deep under snow. Between Genova and the French border, this is a largely undiscovered climbing area, with limestone crags stretching for kilometres down every valley. There are a huge variety of styles and grades; from pocketed slabs to technical vertical faces and steep overhung walls dripping with tufas.
From complete beginners to those with more experience, we work with UIAGM qualified mountain guides who will help you to make the most of your abilities and further your skills and understanding, without compromising your safety. This trip is suitable for all levels; participants will be divided according to ability.
- Day 1 - Monte Sordo. Here you can choose from the classics of the main sector, the overhung tuffas of Lo Specchio (The Mirror), or the surreal walls of La Grotta dell’Edera (Heather Cave - an open topped cavern) depending on your level and aspirations.
- Day 2 - Rocca di Corno. One of Finale’s best known crags is perched high above the valley with a beautiful sea-view. It offers vertical pocketed walls and long juggy overhangs to test your stamina.
- Day 3 - Rocca di Perti is the most extensive crag on the coast. There are over 280 routes on everything from pocketed slabs to slightly inclined technical faces and thugy tuffas.
- Day 4 - Monte Sordo. We return to continue exploring new sectors in this vast crag.
- Day 5 - Rian Cornei is one of the area’s hidden gems, which overlooks a wild undisturbed valley littered with challenging vertical cliffs and fun overhangs.
Finale - 3 days, levels 0-2
We also offer an abbreviated three-day version of this trip, in which we visit Rocca di Perti, Rocca di Corno and Monte Sordo.
