Climbing in Valle d’Aosta
5 days – level 0
Learn to climb in this beautiful alpine valley. The course starts from the very basics, teaching you all the skills you need to climb safely on bolted sports climbs. During the second half of the week you transfer these skills to tackling longer climbers, along with the additional rope work that these require. On the final day you will be ready for your first mountain route in the beautiful Gran Paradiso National Park.
- Day 1 - Valchiusella. This is an introductory day during which you will learn and practice the basics of moving on rock and how to secure your climbing partner.
- Day 2 - Valchiusella. Today we take the first steps towards learning to lead-climb on simple, well bolted routes.
- Day 3 - Valchiusella. Your first experience on a long climb of several rope-lengths, in which we take a look at setting up anchors on bolts and belaying from above.
- Day 4 - Paretone. This 300m high face allows you to put into practice the previous days’ skills, as well as enjoying the thrill of being perched high above the valley floor.
- Day 5 - Valle di Forzo. In Gran Paradiso National Park, this beautiful high mountain setting is a fitting place for anyone’s first mountain route…a day not to forget.
