Great Alpine Ridges

3 days - level 3

A fantastic combination entirely along ridges; this is possibly one of the best Alpine itineraries there is. From the Valle Blanche we top out on the Grandes Jorasses and then descent into Val Ferret. This trip requires a very good level of fitness and competence in progression along ridges. One-to-one ratio with the guide.

  • Day 1 - Dome de Rochefort (4015m). We will be on the first cable car to Punta Helbronner (3462m) and after a short section of glacier begin Cresta Rochefort. A superb and exposed 4hr traverse of the ridge brings us to Aiguille de Rochefort and in another 1hr30 to Dome de Rochefort. From here we descent to Col du Grandes Jorasses and Bivacco Canzio (3825), our overnight stop.
  • Day 2 - Grandes Jorasses (4208m). Today we ascent the magnificent west ridge of the Grandes Jorasses, initially on rock, then across mixed terrain and finally on snow to the summit. 7-8hrs (D). From here we descend the normal route on the south west flank to Rifugio Boccalatte (2804m); another 4hrs.
  • Day 3 - Descent into Val Ferret and the valley floor in 3hrs.
