One to two clients per guide, as stipulated by UIAA regulations. This is due to the more demanding nature of the trips.

Valle d’Aosta is in the western Italian Alps on the border with France and Switzerland; the area offers a wide range of choice for alpinists of all levels. It contains many of the Alps highest and best known mountains; on the east of the valley is the Matterhorn (4478m) and Monte Rosa (4634), on the west side lies the wild and undisturbed Gran Paradiso (4061m) in Italy’s oldest National Park. The head of the valley is dominated by Europe’s highest mountain; Monte Bianco (4807).

We have organised a multitude of itineraries to include the best ascents the area has to offer; from beginner’s courses to longer and more technical excursions for those with more experience. All are accompanied by UIAGM mountain guides, who are there to ensure that your trip is informative and safe as well as enjoyable.

Each trip is assigned a level of difficulty according to the following criteria. Please let us have details of your previous experience when you enrol.

Level 0: A course for complete beginners, which includes: instruction and practice with the material necessary for basic alpinism, moving together on a glacier, negotiating mixed/rocky terrain, belay methods, crevasse rescue and theory about acclimatisation and objective dangers.

Level 1: For those with some basic alpine experience; use of crampons and a walking axe. A good level of fitness is required. Routes are generally in the F-PD+ range.

Level 2: For those confident moving on PD+ terrain. These trips may include routes up to AD+. A good level of fitness is necessary.

Level 3: For more experienced alpinists confident on steeper terrain including short sections of ice. The routes on the these trips range from AD+ to D. An excellent level of fitness is required.
