Alpine ascent of Gran Paradiso

Gran Paradiso (4061m) is the highest mountain entirely in Italian territory. Found in Gran Paradiso National Park near the French border, it is a wild and pristine range abounding in lakes, peaceful valleys, long ridges and wildlife. It’s not uncommon to see ibex, chamois, golden eagles and bearded vultures. In terms of alpinism, the park offers a variety of every kind of ascent.

Via Normale del Gran Paradiso

3 days – level 1

Compared to many other alpine ranges, Gran Paradiso is very rewarding in that you do it all under your own steam; no cable cars and a wilder setting. This route presents one of the Alp’s easiest 4000m ascents in a superb and un-intimidating environment, with no objective dangers. The view from the top is breathtaking.
